真珠は”核”と言われるものに真珠層が重なることで真珠ができます。その重なり具合でパールの大きさや形、照りなどが変わってきます。様々な貝によって自然が作り出す真珠を「天然パール」、人口的作りだした物は「フェイクパール」などと呼ばれます。

【アコヤ真珠】　　

一般的に”真珠”と言えば思い浮かべるのがアコヤ真珠ではないかと思います。、海水によって海で養殖された真珠の事です。アコヤ真珠は1つの貝で1つの真珠しか採ることができないため、淡水パールよりも希少性があり価値が高いとされています。

【淡水パール】　　

アコヤ真珠が海水によって海で養殖されるのに対し、淡水パールは川や湖で養殖された真珠です。真珠が出来上がる過程はほぼ変わりがありませんが、淡水パールに使われる母貝は、アコヤ貝よりも大きく、比較的早く真珠が形成される傾向にあります。

【バロックパール】　　

バロックパールは形が丸ではなく、いびつな形をしたパールの事です。真珠は昔から丸い形こそが美しく価値があるとされてきましたが、決して同じ形は存在しない自然が作り出すありのままの姿が個性的で美しいと注目を浴びています。
